Christmas in Kelowna

Santa sent me to Jonas and Nadia's house where I found a nice warm home with a lovely Christmas tree and lots of books to read. Jonas and Nadia were mostly nice so decided to hide in their Mommy's bag and go to Kelowna with them on my way back to the North Pole - Chloe, Elf on the Shelf.

The Elf on the Shelf tradition was launched in our home for the first time this Christmas 2013. It includes a book and movie and of course our very own Elf - Chloe. It goes like this: Santa sends one of his an elves to each boy or girl's home where she monitors the kid's behavior and nightly flies back to the North Pole to report to Santa. The top policy regarding the Elf on the Shelf is to refrain from touching the creature, as doing so could permanently erase any Christmas magic with which the elf had been bestowed upon being named by the family. Jonas and Nadia love it and continue to sing the movie soundtrack..."that is why we all believe in Christmas".

C in K included playing in snow, building our own frozen Olaf snowman, chopping and hauling wood for Grandma and Grandpa, watching the animated movie "Frozen" in 3D - a big hit especially with Nadia, outdoor skating, and spending some magical days and nights with family and friends. Jonas discovered his first wiggling tooth, a bottom, while at our friends, Ed & Diane - how exciting! We had lot's of fun, too, with Baby Matias, opening presents and playing with toys. Thanks again Auntie Drea and Uncle Ryan!

Nadia's vocabulary and communication skills are improving daily and, like her brother is able to uncannily remember specific details about events in the past, esp. birthdays, gatherings, travels, etc. She is very much her own person and likes to choose her own clothes, shoes and activities. She's super excited about swimming which can be a bit scary as she sometime wants to do things a kid her age should not. Every bedtime and goodbye, now, almost always ends with "a kiss and a hug...and a smooch".

Jonas is almost swimming on his own - just a little farther to go as he grows stronger. Without boasting, he's one of the best players on his soccer team - quick, can dribble and kick with both feet. He loves to score goals - a good thing - and claims to have scored some 5 or more goals in one game? I've seen him score 3 and he always keeps score - it's his thing, in soccer and hockey - so I have to believe the kid. He loves to play floor hockey in the basement, up to scores of 5 or 10, plus a "shoot-off" and he's talking about playing ice hockey - we'll continue to drop in at Moody Arena for the time being. When it comes to hockey on the tube - the question he always asks: who's the better team? We'll just have to find out (hint: it's the one Jonas is going to be on). =)
